Hydroxyapatite toothpastes are the new fluoride for dentistry. New studies are showing that it’s just as effective if not more effective at remineralizing teeth as fluoride. Regardless of what your beliefs about fluoride are, the topic of fluoride is a nuanced one and is not a discussion for this post.
The advantage of hydroxyapatite toothpaste compared to fluoride is that it’s made of the same material that teeth are naturally made of. As I’ve said in the past, tooth enamel is the hardest material in our body. It is made of calcium phosphate crystalline matrix called hydroxyapatite.
Another advantage is that it has been shown in a recent 2019 meta-analysis to be the most effective toothpaste for sensitive teeth.

All of the new science is looking into nano-hydroxyapatite applications in dentistry.
There are many good brands that are now using hydroxyapatite as the remineralizing agent in their dentifrice.
I highly recommend this brand Wellnesse and you can find this product here on Amazon. (Though I'm not sponsored by this brand, nor have I received free samples to write this review -- I have spent my own money to buy this product and test it -- I am an Amazon Affiliate and will receive a small commission at no additional cost to you if you so chose to purchase through my link.) I liked that all of the individual ingredients have an EWG score of 1. Some great specs besides the hydroxyapatite include Aloe Vera, Green Tea Extracts that are loaded with antioxidants, SLF-Free, Glycerin-Free, Non-GMO, and No Parabens!
Check it out and let me know what you think!
