Let’s talk about mouth-taping! The first thing to understand is that snoring and mouth breathing are not normal. Common and normal are two separate things. If you snore at night, you are a Mouth Breather and I highly recommend seeing a qualified healthcare team.
As humans, we are designed primarily to breathe through the nose. Breathing through the nose filters air, humidifies air, slows respiration rate to effectively oxygenate the blood, and produces nitric oxide (the miracle molecule).
As a physician of the mouth, I see firsthand the deleterious effects of mouth breathing. Some of these include increased rates of tooth decay, calculus build-up, sleep apnea, increased tonsil size, and believe it or not crooked teeth. The root of it all comes down to mouth breathing instead of nasal breathing.
The product that I'm using is called Somnifix, and it was created by a somnologist (sleep doctor) to address issues associated with sleep apnea. It's an easy-to-remove hypoallergenic tape that I used to help resolve my snoring, help my troubled sleeping, and dry mouth. A fun fact is that it was on Shark Tank.
I highly recommend trying this product
This nightly habit has been one of the TOP things that have changed my overall health. I now have vivid dreams and restful regenerative sleep. I also have a healthy oral microbiome due to my saliva constantly bathing my teeth 🦷
I highly recommend trying Somnifix if you're a mouth breather. You can easily purchase this product on Amazon here and see if this helpful product works for you (please note that this is an affiliate link, and as an Amazon Affiliate I earn on qualifying purchases at no additional cost to you.)
I have to laugh at myself as I know that others have laughed at the idea of adopting this habit. There is no denying that it is definitely an odd one, but so was wearing skinny jeans back in the day 🤷🏽♂️
