The Future of Medicine is Red Light Therapy

The future of medicine is photobiomodulation! For those not familiar with this term, Photobiomodulation is the therapeutic impact of light exposure on our biology and its wide-ranging effects on the body. Red light therapy demonstrated above is an example of this.

Photobiomodulation occurs by exposing beams of light in the visible red and near-infrared wavelengths to regions of the body. Red light and Infrared exposure are naturally obtained through watching a sunrise or a sunset. These electromagnetic wavelengths are non-ionizing energy that typically comes through sun exposure. As we have shifted away from working outdoors and into office settings, our exposure to these important wavelengths have diminished.

We see on the cellular level that red light is absorbed by chromophores with our mitochondria. Mitochondria are “powerhouse energy factories” within our cells. Red light has been shown to cause mitochondria to produce more energy.

Studies have shown that photobiomodulation treatment can yield reduced inflammation, rapid relief of pain, improved recovery after surgeries, accelerated healing after injuries, improved circulation, increased collagen production, skin rejuvenation, microbiome modulation, weight loss, and improved brain function in patients suffering from cognitive impairments. Currently, photobiomodulation & Photodynamic therapy have been studied in humans for cancer treatment. PMC5505738

Photobiomodulation is safe, effective, minimally invasive and conservative. The best part is that it's drug-free with minimal to no side effects. It causes the body to heal from the inside out. This is all due to the fact that we are electromagnetic beings in need of wavelengths from the sun. Let me know in the comments if you’ve ever tried red light therapy 👇🏽
